TENNENT’S TRAINING ACADEMY RECOGNISED FOR FOSTERING YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

Posted: April 12, 2017

The Tennent’s Training Academy (TTA) has been awarded the Investors in Young People Gold accreditation for its work with youth employment in the hospitality industry, making it the first ever hospitality facility to achieve gold status. Investors in Young People praised the Glasgow training facility for its work with young people, particularly those who come up against challenges to employment, and its efforts to promote the hospitality industry as a rewarding career option.

PROMOTING CAREERS IN HOSPITALITY

Since 2010, the TTA has worked with a range of suppliers and trainers to deliver courses specifically designed to help young people, including school children, gain insight, skills and the essential experience to find employment within the hospitality trade.

It works closely with young people who might face conventional barriers to work, especially those with learning disabilities, recently re-homed, long-term unemployed and young people who are recently out of prison.

The TTA also delivers a vast range of courses that support the hospitality industry by delivering over 50 accredited courses designed to help those just starting out or staff already working within it.

Courses range from drink and food service to pub and cellar management, personal license and door supervision.

TENNENT’S TRAINING ACADEMY CELEBRATES PARTNERSHIP WITH RENFREWSHIRE COUNCIL

Posted: April 7, 2017

The Tennent’s Training Academy (TTA) is celebrating working in partnership with Renfrewshire Council’s Invest in Renfrewshire Team to train unemployed people from the area and help them enter the world of work. The announcement comes hot on the heels of the graduation ceremony for the first programme which took place last week, Friday 31 March. Up to nine further programmes will be delivered over the next two years with over 100 individuals expected to take part.

Students graduating last week had completed five weeks of hospitality training across various accredited qualifications and skills masterclasses including: emergency first aid, food safety kitchen skills, customer and drinks service training and an employability masterclass. The programme was a tremendous success with 100% attendance across the five weeks. All candidates were unemployed at the beginning of the course, and four attendees already have more reason to celebrate after being offered either full or part time work since completion.

Tennent’s Training Academy are looking for hospitality businesses in Renfrewshire to get in touch if they are looking for staff and also if they are able to help support work placements. The next programme starts on the 1st of May 2017.
